LAW ENFORCEMENT, PUBLIC WORKS, AND EMS
AGENCIES TO BUY APCO 25 DIGITAL RADIOS

ST. CROIX COUNTY, WISCONSIN
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance makes grants of federal
Homeland Security Funds; and
WHEREAS, the federal government does not require the local fire, law
enforcement, public works, and EMS agencies have APCO 25 Digital Radios; and
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance is requiring the purchase
of APCO 25 Digital Radios; and
WHEREAS, APCO 25 Digital Radios are much more expensive than comparable,
adequate radios; and
WHEREAS, the benefit to local fire, law enforcement, public works, and EMS
agencies from APCO 25 Digital Radios, compared to comparable, adequate radios has
not been shown.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of
Supervisors requests the Office of Justice Assistance, Governor Doyle, Senator Harsdorf,
Assemblypersons Rhoades, Lamb and Pettis to act to remove the requirement that
Wisconsin local fire, law enforcement, public works, and EMS agencies buy APCO 25
Digital Radios.
