Emergency Management and Communications Committee
June 19, 2007
Meeting called to order by Chair Mehls.
Members present: Chuck Mehls, Denise Gunderson, Buck Malick, Julie Speer, and John Borup.
Others present: Casey Swetlik, Walt Land, and Gale Sorum
Discussion of the Emerald Tower Disposition:
Location, Lot 1, Certified Survey Map filed January 1978. 190 foot, light duty guy tower and 9 x12 foot
cement building.
Tower was abandoned in 1993 and disconnected in 2002.
Property has been appraised at $33,000.
The Committee agreed that since Emergency Communications has no intent of using this tower that we
would secure an appraisal and then look into all facets of a contract with Mr. Lang or sell the property.
The Committee looked into all the other costs and liabilities of this tower and decided to withdraw their
resolution from the June 19 County Board Agenda.
Further discussion will be held on our July 25 Emergency Management/Communications meeting.
