St. Croix County Meth Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes
November 19, 2007
Supervisor Tom Caflisch called the meeting to order.
Members Present: Tom Hennes, Tom Caflisch, Amber Perry, Denise Gunderson, David
McQuillen, Ed Thurman, and Joan Sprain. Guests: Chief Mark Richert, North Hudson
PD and Officer Adam Wojciehowski, Somerset PD.
Motion passed to approve the minutes from the October Meeting.
Motion passed to approve the November agenda.

OLD BUSINESS
1. Goals and strategies
Members of the sub - committee shared ideas generated from their meeting. Denise
Gunderson reported that she had contacted Officer Woijciehowski regarding the
Underage Drinking Coalition and invited him to attend this meeting.
She had also contacted the Sheriff regarding underage drinking arrests but had not
received the data yet. She will also invite Brad Nemec, Somerset, to join our committee.
Joan Sprain reported that her UW Stout intern was still trying to gain the data from
schools and CESA regarding youth alcohol use. She also shared that one of the ideas
generated at the sub - committee meeting was to create a lawn sign campaign with
messages about underage drinking. She had also begun work on a presentation to parents
and community members about the problem and what can be done about it.
The remainder of the report focused on learning more about the Underage Drinking
Coalition: They are:
• A county -wide initiative (in existence for 4 years) now includes the Sheriff's
Dept.
• Priority is education about compliance, enforcement is last. Mission: "Combating
youth access to alcohol through education and enforcement."
• Programs include party patrol - concerts etc, cops n shops- sale to minors
• 13 agencies including Community Action of Hudson
• Funded through W1 DOT -BOTS
The committee agreed to invite them to join our group.
2. Drug Court Update
Amber reported there are currently 19 participants.
3. Butterfly House
Denise reported they have served 14 residents and have 1 graduate.
4. Member Update
Denise will invite Brad Nemec to be on our committee.
5. Rescue Mission
Tom reported that they will have their 5013C status within 6 months. Michelle Anderson,
Jail Nurse has been helping with assessments /education. Tom has been working with one
man released from jail who needed basic necessities. The faith community responded
immediately with help.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:30
