This project incorporates previous planning efforts by WisDOT and the Town of
Hudson which resulted in the development of a Conceptual Plan dated 1995.
The segment of USH 12 from Brakke Drive to the north will be expanded from a
two-lane roadway to a four -lane divided roadway with a 30-foot curbed median and turn
lanes at intersections, similar to the recent upgrade of USH 12 through the interchange at
[H 94. The design will basically utilize the existing two-lane roadbed as the new
southbound lanes and widen along the east to construct the new northbound lanes.
Access will be limited and frontage roads may be built at some locations to connect
private driveways with public road intersections.
The four -lane configuration will extend north onto CTH U crossing the Union
Pacific Railroad and intersecting CTH A. The widened roadway will then narrow to
match the existing two-lane roadway just north of the CTH U/A intersection.
USH 12 will be realigned for approximately 0.4 miles to the east from a new
T-intersection with the four -lane roadway. This portion of USH 12 will be reconstructed
to two-lane standards.
To date, a preliminary layout has been completed and environmental impact
evaluation and documentation has been initiated. Many specific design issues, such as
access control, railroad crossing treatment, street lighting and traffic signals, will be
addressed during the public involvement process,
