CROIX COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER, HUDSON WI June 6, 2007 Present: Committee: Supervisors Wally Habhegger, Lois Burri, Gene Ruetz, Ron Troyer Absent and Excused: Stan Krueger Staff: Dave Fodroczi, Ellen Denzer, Kevin Grabau, Jennifer Shillcox Guests: Supervisor Bill Crammer Call to Order: Chair Habhegger called the meeting to order at 8:40 a.m. Adoption of Agenda: Motion by Burri, second by Ruetz to approve the agenda. Motion carried. Action on Previous Minutes: none OLD AND NEW BUSINESS Review of public hearing comments and consideration of staff recommended changes to the Nonmetallic Mining Ordinance Amendments and Section 17.65 Sign Regulations and related sections of the Zoning Ordinance. Denzer reviewed public hearing comments and proposed changes to the sign regulations. She indicated that staff would confer with legal counsel on the definition of "flag" and develop reduced height standards for signs in residential areas. Habhegger confirmed that staff would respond to Supervisor Luckey's comments and questions as part of additional staff review. The Committee directed staff to finalize changes for Committee consideration on June 12''. Shillcox reviewed handout that summarized all of the public hearing comments on the proposed changes to the Nonmetallic Mining Ordinance. Most of the comments focused on the proposed groundwater protection requirements in §§ 14.2.A.8.c. &d. Staff proposed to change the separation standard for wash ponds to separation from bedrock instead of groundwater. Staff also proposed to reorganize and revise the hydrogeologic study requirements in response to comments, including a change to make modeling an option under certain conditions.
