MINUTES OF THE ST. CROIX COUNTY TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE
Meeting of September 6, 2007
Chairman King called the meeting to order at 8:45 A.M. held at the St.
Croix County Government Center Room 1406, 1101 Carmichael Road, Hudson,
WI.
Roll call was taken with King, Grant, Peterson, Rebholz and Hurtgen in
attendance. Others present included Tim Ramberg.
A motion was made and seconded (Rebholz /Grant) to adopt the agenda as
published. Motion carried.
Discussion took place regarding the updated and new information received
since the last meeting as it relates to the state and county 2008
budgets.
According to the Wisconsin County Association State Biennial Budget
report, the Governor, Joint Finance Committee, Senate, & Assembly all
exempt the county -aid bridge levy from the levy caps set in previous
budgets in their versions of the current budget. Also, the report noted
that the Governor, Joint Finance Committee, and the Senate all include
a levy limit of 4% in their proposed budget, while only the Assembly
has a "not to exceed valuation due to new construction" limit proposed.
The Highway Department budget this year addresses $238,117 of the
salaries, fringes, and health insurance items projected on a report
shared previously at the County Board and Department Head meetings as
well as the alternative revenue sources for transportation purposes
established by the County Board.
In being mindful of the above information, the needs of the general
overall constraints on the county levy, a motion was made and seconded
(Peterson /Hurtgen) to move forward with a revised budget reflecting a
$147,702 increase or 3.92% increase not including county -aid bridges.
Motion carried.
The Committee joined the Finance Committee to discuss the Highway
Department 2008 budget at 9:00 AM.
A motion was made and seconded (Hurtgen /Peterson), to adjourn at 9:55
AM. Motion carried.
