The full 2007 budget increased 5% compared to 2006's budget. This increase is mainly due to the increase in the DOT grant. The increase also includes the Alzheimer's Family and Caregiver Support Program money from the State that has been awarded to St. Croix County's Long Term Support Unit in the past. Council member Gerald Peterson questioned the position's current number of hours and the proposed number of hours. Kjersti clarified the current contracted position is 40 hours per week. The county position proposal would be for 37.5 hours a week. After Kjersti finished presenting the budget to the Council, council member Gerald Peterson stated that if negotiations exceed the 2.5% salary increase (which was used, as instructed by the Finance Director, to figure the 2007 budget) that Kjersti lobby that the increase not come out of the Department on Aging budget.
