SURVEY RESULTS
I . Ed reviewed the results of the " Methamphetamine Survey" filled out by St. Croix
County employees. There were 180 responses.
• Seventy -seven percent of the respondents said they could benefit from receiving
information about methamphetamine.
*Two-thirds of respondents said they would like information on all aspects of the
drug as defined in the survey, i.e., information on the drug's effect on the
individual, the effect the manufacturing of the drug has on the environment,
information on treatment options and information on what the meth problem costs
the county.
*Most said they would attend a "brown bag" lunch presentation.
*Fifteen percent said that meth had impacted someone close to them. More
responded yes in the Health and Human Service Department. Steve said that
employees in the Human Service Dept. are more aware of meth and its effects
where other employee groups may not have that kind of understanding of the
problem. It was decided that the wording of this question i.e. "what is close" is
ambiguous.
• Steve said less than half of the total number of employees filled out the survey.
*Dave said one of the reasons for the poorer return may have been that the
employees did not have the privacy to will out the survey.
2. Esther asked who and what would be presented if they had a % hour "brown bag"
presentation. Steve suggested two or three loops of various video presentations
with an opportunity to ask questions. Someone suggested that there be a separate
lunch place for each department such as the cafeteria.
3. Other ideas were discussed:
*Linda suggested emailing Eric's power point presentation to county workers.
Eric said he could email it over the intranet. Esther said not all employees have
access to the intranet.
•Dave suggested preparing a new power point presentation specific to St. Croix
County (i.e. Here is the problem in St. Croix County, this is how your recognize it
and this is what you can do about it). He said this would create more interest. He
said the video or the intranet presentation should be 10 -15 minutes long and have
someone available if questions arise. Perhaps Doreen and her aunt Mary could
provide the information and Katie could do the power point. Steve would be the
contact person if the audience had questions.
• Someone suggested asking Jamie Swiontek if we could use her PowerPoint
presentation on Meth or ask her if she would help us develop another. Jamie is
the teacher who gave this presentation to teach her 8 1h grade students in River
Falls.
•Joanne said she would like use a PowerPoint to target prevention at the new
"Strengthening Families" program sponsored by UW_Extension and the Somerset
Schools.
*Denise said the presentations should include help resources and information for
parents.
• Bill said that Hudson Cable Co. has a camera and taping facilities for a film.
•Conclusion: Eric said the PowerPoint he has could be tweaked until someone is
willing to create a new one. This will be sent out on the intranet.
DRUG COURT /DRUG COURT COORDINATOR

2. The Interview Committee has made their selections and will interview next week.
MEMBERSHIP OF METH ADVISORY GROUP

to work on things at home or do "one off' projects.
3. Linda can not attend meetings on Monday
4. Denise, Tom H and Joan each have a person they will ask to join.
UPCO MING EVENTS
