UNFINISHED BUSINESS Senior Celebration: Senior Celebration was held on May 19` at the Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson. The day was filled with great entertainment, lots of bidding, and a wonderful lunch. Over 160 people attended the day and the Faith in Action Silent Auction brought in approximately $1600. The Fogey Follies trip to Minneapolis was lots of fun. Participants came fi•om New Richmond, Somerset, Baldwin, and River Falls. NEW BUSINESS: Uncominp- Events: The St. Croix County Fair will take place from July 21S` — 24` We will sell juice and popcorn again this year, with volunteers from the local Senior Centers manning the area. A schedule was handed out for the Nutrition Program Managers to bring back to their Senior Centers to recruit volunteers. Individual entries for the Senior Class need to be submitted by June 24` Site posters should be delivered by the first day of the fair. Sue Kramer is still visiting the Senior Centers with Bruce Running from Social Security. There is a lot of information that needs to get out to individuals. In the fall, volunteers may be recruited to help sign Seniors up for Medicare Part D — the two ways to register are through the phone or internet. Currently, forms are being sent out by Social Security to individuals who may qualify for additional financial assistance for the prescription drug program. Completing these forms does not register one for Medicare Part-D. That process will occur in mid - November. If anyone needs assistance or has questions, direct him/her to the Department on Aging to talk with Sue Kramer. 2004 Audit: The auditor completed our 2004 audit last week. The auditor discovered the County Appropriations for 2005 are at a lesser amount then anticipated. Approximately $7000 was deducted from the budget presented to the Council on Aging for approval. Considering the levy is already set, adjustments must be made in this year's budget. Service management and congregate dining are two of the programs that receive cou nty appropriations. They will be impacted by this decrease. Site transportation is the third program that receives county appropriations. Because that program is required by the state to receive a twenty- percent match from the county, it will not be affected. When developing the 2006 budget, the Department on Aging will be diligent to understand what is going on with the budget throughout the approval process and to make sure any changes are brought to our attention. Croixview Nutrition Site: Sandra Hurd resigned as the Nutrition Program Manager for Croixview. Kjersti, Tracy, and Jodi Branson, Croixview Apartment Manager, met to discuss the program. Meals are currently served Monday — Thursday, but will be changing to Tuesday — Thursday. We are looking to hire an individual to fill the Nutrition Program Manger position. On days when Croixview is closed, transportation is provided for those that still wish to participate in the Nutrition Program. They are welcome to attend the Hudson Senior Center at the Marie Blakeman Community Center. STAFF REPORTS Kiersti's Report: Kjersti has met with most of the Nutrition Program Managers to cover the Nutrition Program Manager Manual and discuss any issues that the Program Managers might have. In June, Kjersti will be attending training in Stevens Point to learn more about the Medicare Part D program. Kjersti also helped compile a manual for the drivers for the training on June 29th. The manual is similar to the Nutrition Program Manual. Tracy's Report: Driver Training will take place on June 29th and all drivers are to bring any old manuals they may have at their sites.
