RE: Remodeling Project, Town of Troy, St. Croix County
Dear Mr. Hoss :
You have requested the Zoning Office to review your remodeling /addition project for compliance with the state
sanitary code (COMM 83). When remodeling or adding onto a dwelling you are required to examine whether or not
the construction involves an increase of wastewater.
I have reviewed your original house plans and your remodeling plans that you submitted for compliance with the state
sanitary code. As I understand the revision, you will not be adding any bedrooms and will not be adding any increase
in the existing structure size, therefore, this project does not involve the increase in wastewater load to the septic
system.
Section 83.055 (3)(b)(2) states: Increased wastewater load in dwellings results from an increase in the number
of bedrooms from construction of any addition or remodeling which exceeds 25% of the total gross area of the
existing dwelling unit.
The septic system was evaluated on 9 -8 -99 by Dale E. Hudson of Boldt's Heating and Plumbing. The system was
reported as consisting of a septic tank, drywell and drainfield. The report stated that the system was not failing at the
time of inspection.
To prolong the life of the system, remember to have the septic tank pumped once every three years or when the tank
becomes 1/3 full of sludge and scum. Other efforts to prolong the life of the system could be as simple as fixing or
replacing plumbing fixtures with water conserving fixtures, reducing shower time, washing dishes when the dish
washer is full, avoid using a garbage disposal, using a wash machine with a suds saver feature, etc. Therefore, the
prolonged life of this system may be dependent upon proper maintenance of the system.

An on -site Investigation of the septic system on the Don sass
property, located 577 White Oak Dri� :: ..:son Wisconsin
was conducted on 09/08/99
At the time of the inspection, the sanitary system appeared to be functioning properly for the
existing use (See exception ' below). The Inspection of this sewage disposal system was based
upon a surface Inspection of said system and did not Involve any excavating or chemical analysis.
A000rdingly, there Is the possibility of hidden defects In the system not discoverable by this
Inspection. Therefore, It is understood and agreed that there remains the possibility of hidden
defects In the system which are not discoverable by a surface Inspection and this Inspection does
not in any way warrant or guarantee the continued proper functioning or operation of this system. It
is recommended that the system should be pumped once every two to three years. Therefore, the
prolonged life of this system Is totally c.apendent upon proper maintenance of the system and can
very depending on the number of people living In the residence, the age of children, work outside
the home, and use of garbage disposal.

SPECIAL NOTATIONS: septic consists of septic tank, drywell and
drainfield. There is no inspection riser on septic tank, and tank cover
is not assessable however after initiating water flow from toilets and
faucets in house, the flow seemed to be correct to drywell. Drywell has
small amount of water standing in it (6`!) and observation pipe on
drainfield is dry.
