NEW BUSINESS
1. Meth Awareness Proclamation
Esther reminded the group that September is Meth Awareness :Month. She presented a
proclamation by the St. Croix County Meth Advisory Committee and Mom's and Dad's
r '
Against Meth (MADAM) that will be signed by Clarence W. Malick, St. Croix County
Board Chair and sent out to all area media.
PROCLAMATION
Whereas, the St. Croix County Meth Advisory Committee, in partnership with MADAM
(Moms and Dads Against Methamphetamine) is striving to bring awareness of
Methamphetamine Production, Distribution and Use in St. Croix County; and
Whereas, the Committee is developing a plan of action to promote this awareness
throughout St. Croix County; and
Whereas, the need for Information Education and Awareness is essential in efforts to
stem the Production, Distribution and Use of Methamphetamines in St. Croix County;
and Whereas Methamphetamines are commonly referred to as "Meth "; and
Whereas, the social/economic impact of Methamphetamines reaches deep into all
departments of St. Croix County Government; and
Whereas, the use of Methamphetamines within St. Croix County appears to be
increasing, and must be contained. Therefore, I do proclaim September 2005 as "Meth
Awareness Month: in St. Croix County.
SEPTEMBER 2005
METH AWARENESS MONTH
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of my office to be
affixed.
Clarence W Malick St.Croix County Board Chair
Esther said that the media provides visibility and awareness of Meth by both the county
and MADAM. She said that a picture of the Advisory Committee will be taken at the
next meeting, August 22 and submitted to media along with the proclamation.
Dennis said that the New Richmond paper was doing a 2 -3 part series on Meth. The
reporter is Karl Puckett and the Editor is Mike Burke.
Dave said that something on Meth should be in the papers every week. We need to
develop a subcommittee for Meth Awareness Month to plan what is feasible for
September.
There was discussion about what should be in the media i.e. a public service
announcement, statistics on the number of Meth cases in the county, how many
convictions and crimes and whether Meth Awareness Month should be pushed to another
month to allow us more time to prepare.
The resolution was that a Meth Media Committee should be established to look at what
could be done, how it can be done and who can do it. Dave, Denise, Doreen and Linda
volunteered to serve on that committee.
There were other ideas as to where information about Meth should be disseminated.
Denise said info could be handed out at football games, Katie suggested Homecoming
and Esther suggested the Parent/Teacher Conference.
Denise suggested that the student body should be contacted for help making buttons and
talking to peers
2. Strategies and Available Materials
This will be the responsibility of the screening subcommittee
3. Jail Tour
Esther said the jail tour would be on August 22. Dennis said there is a short tour of 20
minutes or a long tour that takes 45 minutes.
4. Treasure's Report
Doreen reported $1302.48 in the treasury. She continues to do well selling bottoms and
t -shirts at community events.

Monday Sept 26 at 6:30 pm, room to be announced.

at Ox Cart Days and suggested the results could be published in the paper for Meth

order for the results to be statistically relevant.
