UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Goals — Steve Kirt
Steve asked if group was interested in completing tasks already established or continue to
develop new goals. Group decided to continue working on tasks already established.
Doreen brought in New Richmond newspaper which highlighted 4 pages of Meth
information. This is the first issue of a series to be devoted to :Meth. The Meth
Proclamation will be sent out to area newspapers to be included in edition just prior to
Labor Day.
Doreen and Denise spent several days at local fairs passing out candy, buttons and
information. Could use more give aways to attract kids.
There are 3 more fairs yet this summer. Committee members are asked to sign up for a
time to help. Eric suggested running Meth Power Point Presentation at fairs, either on lap
top or TV with full screen. His office has all equipment available.
Doreen solicits brochures from several agencies and is planning to bundle into packets to
be given away. Eric will contact DOJ to request additional materials.
Steve asked that all members provide him with a list of events in their areas which would
provide an opportunity for our members to participate in those activities.
Dennis Hillstead reported a recent Meth arrest that was videotaped and is planned for
release in November.
P /
Doreen reported that she has been receiving calls offering help with MADAM. She is
requesting help from our committee connecting people to opportunities. A reservation in
Siren has requested T Shirts and buttons.
Treasurer Report: Doreen reported a balance of over $1,700.
Eric presented binder "Meth In St. Croix County" which has been sent to schools.
Doreen informed group of Relapse Prevention Training Seminar in Eau Claire Sept. 23.
She will be attending. She also attends Pierce County Drug Court on Tuesday mornings
in Ellsworth, which is open to public viewing.
Doreen has individual packets of bracelet parts which need to be assembled and is asking
for assistance.
Cindy Leonard is interested in development of resources for parents, outlining where they
can go for help.
Steve reported that Hudson Ministerial Association has invited him to attend their
meetings and let them know how they can help.
Denise suggested a traveling information booth which could be transported to the
churches.
Highway Clean Up (3 miles in front of Cedar Lake Speedway). All members who are
able to participate, meet September 6 at 4:30 after next scheduled committee meeting.
Doreen presented information on highway signs. She is getting bids from printers to
have 25 bright green 3'x4' signs printed on aluminum, mounted on 2 posts. She is
planning to ask businesses in all townships to sponsor a sign at cost of $85 which will
include a separate additional sign with business name as sponsor. Highway Dept will
only install posts and signs if they also do printing but they will not print our signs in
bright green color, as they have that color reserved for crosswalks. A suggestion was
made that people from Challenge Incarceration Program erect posts and signs (33' from
center line).MADAM may ask for donations. Dennis Hillstead suggested inserting
information about signs in next edition of New Richmond newspaper with second article.
