Proper maintenance consists of pumping out the septic tank every three years or sooner, if needed by a licensed septic tank pumper. St. Croix County residents may be eligible to. receive a grant for a maximum of 60% of the cost of replacement of a failing system, which was in operation prior to July 1, 1978.
