The Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) must be contacted regarding the treatment and disposal of all industrial wastes, including those combined with domestic/sanitary wastes. 5. Supply duplex pumps with duplex controls. 6. Maintain well and waterline set backs per COMM 83.10(1) and 83.14(4)(a). 7. Pitch distribution pipe per COMM 83.13(6xa). The facility is located at 228 County Road F, Hudson, Wisconsin, in St. Croix County. The letter that you sent stated that the only type of waste that will be allowed into the catch basin is washwater from the wash bay from the occasional washing of electric golf carts. Washing of vehicles will be accomplished by using only biodegradable cleaners. Non - biodegradable and /or emulsifying degreasers will not be allowed to be used since they will not be trapped in the catch basin nor will they biologically decompose upon entering the septic tank or drain field. Eventually these materials will find their way to an aquifer which could be linked to a private /public well. Since many of Wisconsin's residents rely on groundwater for their source of drinking water, potential contamination from septic systems must always be avoided. Any vehicle waste that drips or spills onto the floor must be wiped up or absorbed with a solid absorbent material and disposed of as a solid waste. Regular inspection of the catch basin will indicate if cleaning is required. All sediments should be dewatered and taken to a licensed landfill. Oil and grease from the catch basin should be skimmed from the surface and disposed of as an used oil. All servicing of the golf carts will take place in the maintenance building which is located elsewhere. Based upon the information provided in the letter that you sent and the conditions stated above, the Division of Water finds the inclusion of a drain catch basin acceptable. Please remember that this is only a recommendation to the Department of Commerce, Division of Safety and Buildings. Approval from Department of Commerce, Division of Safety and Buildings for both the inside and outside plumbing is still necessary. You should know as the owner of the property you are responsible for any environmental contamination originating from the property. Failure to properly manage this system may result in soil or groundwater contamination.
