SUPPORT= ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 223
WHEREAS, the law has been changed to exempt manufacturing machinery
and equipment from the property tax; and
WHEREAS, it is acknowledged that this law has probably improved
the state's industrial climate; d`
WHEREAS, county and municipal'revenues have been decreased because
of this change in law; and
WF S, the current formula of making M & E payments from the
shared tax account reduces the amount available in the shared tax account
to make payments under the shared tax concept; and
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 223 would require that M & E payments be
made from the state general fund, thereby providing additional money for
payments from the shared tax account.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the St. Croix County Board of
Supervisors, that this Board go on record as being in support of Assembly
Bill 223; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
the Governor, each legislator representing a.portion of St® Croix County,
members of the Assembly Committe on Local Affairs, `and _the Wisconsin
County Boards Association®
