SELECTION OF COUNTY OFFICERS
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Constitution provides that certain county officers
shall beelected; and
WHEREAS', Assembly Joint Resolution 22 would permit certain of these county
officers to be appointed; and
WHEREAS, the St® Croix County Board opposes the trend to eliminate elected
officials and the concept of a shorterballot; and
WHEREASO it is felt that elected officials are more responsive to the needs
o citizens d that there is no assurance that a co ty board s ffio control
over appointed officials; and
WHEREAS,, it is also felt that once the consitution is amended to eliminate
the election of some officers, it will be easier to amend it to eliminate the
action of other offices
NOW ORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the St® Croix County Board of Supervisors,
that this Board go on record as being opposed to Assembly Joint Resolution 22;

FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be forwarded by the County
Clerk to Governor Dreyfus, State Senator Radose 'ch and State Assemblyman Harer®
