WHEREAS, AB 1090 and SB 474 are presently pending before the Wisconsin
Legislature, and
WHEREAS, these two bills are referred to as the Marital Partnership Property
Reform Act, and have, as a general purpose, the adoption in Wisconsin of a system
of property ownership between spouses which is similar to that in community property
states, and
WHEREAS, the Extension Homemakers of St. Croix County recognize the philosophy
that marriage is a joint endeavor of two equal partners, and
WHEREAS, the Extension Homemakers further support the creation in state law
of equal marital partnership and the equal ownership and management of earnings
and assets accumulated (other than by gift or inheritance) by either partner
subsequent to their marriage, and
WHEREAS, the Extension Homemakers of St. Croix County has extensively studied
these two bills and strongly recommends that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors
endorse these bills,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors,
meeting in regular session, that the said County Board endorses the passage of
AB1090 and SB 474 by the Wisconsin Legislature, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be sent by the County
Clerk to State Senator Radosevich, State Assemblyman Harer, and Governor Dreyfus.
