WHEREAS, presently, the position of County Surveyor for St. Croix County
is an elected position, and
WHEREAS, for many years no surveyor has chosen to run for the office of
County Surveyor, and
WHEREAS, Wisconsin Statutes Section 59.12 provides that a county board may,
by resolution, designate any registered land surveyor employed by a county to
perform the duties of the county surveyor under Section 59.60 and Section 59.635,
in lieu of electing a County Surveyor, and
WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Planning, Zoning and Parks Committee has studied
the County Surveyor situation at length and recommends that the county board re-
solve to employ registered land surveyors rather than continue to elect County
Surveyors every two years,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors,
meeting in regular session, that, pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes Section 59.12,
the elected position of County Surveyor is hereby abolished, effective immediately,
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in lieu of such elected position of County
Surveyor, the County Board will hereafter employ registered land surveyors to
perform the duties of the County Surveyor under Sections 59.60 and 59.635.
