Resolution #-Jrjybu WHEREAS, in November, 1979, the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors charged back Illegal Taxes to the Town of Stanton in the amount of $4,625.64, and WHEREAS, said Illegal Taxes arose from a situation in 1975 where the U. S. Government purchased real estate in the Town of Stanton for waterfowl production and protection purposes, and WHEREAS, $4,625.64 in real estate taxes were charged against the real estate purchased by the U. S. Government, and WHEREAS, the U. S. Government is exempt from taxation on real estate pur- chased by them, and WHEREAS, an Illegal Tax situation arose in this instance when no persons were responsible for the payment of $4,625.64 in real estate taxes charged against this particular real estate, and WHEREAS, said mistake occurred because of procedural problems occurring in both the Town of Stanton and St. Croix County, and WHEREAS, the Finance Committee has studied this matter and recommends that St. Croix County forgive these Illegal Taxes charged back to the Town of Stanton in the amount of $4,625,64, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors meeting in regular session that the Illegal Taxes charged back to the Town of Stanton in November, 1979 in the amount of $4,625.64 be forgiven by St. Croix County, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that any monies necessary for said forgiveness be taken by the St. Croix County Treasurer from the General Fund of St. Croix County. a Dated this Cf day ofd P, "1 5? 1980.
