HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1980 (35)RESOLUTION 5 S (f6) RESOLUTION RECO14MENDING CHANGES IN THE STATE AG LAND PRESERVATION LAW WHEREAS, St. Croix County is an Agricultural County; and WHEREAS, St. Croix County has numerous farmers who have signed contracts with the state to preserve their lands; and WHEREAS, many St. Croix County farmers are not eligible for tax credits because of income or tax limits; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors recommends that the State revise the State Ag Land Preservation Law so that all farms under ag land zoning be eligible for a tax rebate based on a fixed percentage of their property taxes with such percentage to be based on the average percent of their tax bills that farmers are now receiving; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors recommends that the maximum property tax ceiling be raised to $20,000. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors recommends that farms under such zoning and receiving such benefits be required to be in substantial compliance with the standards of soil conservation plans.
