RESOLUTION STATING SUPPORT OF WILD HERITAGE EFFORTS TO PRESERVE
TROUT BROOK HATCHERY PROPERTY FOR NATURE STUDY
WHEREAS: Wild Heritage is a local, nonprofit organization
dedicated to conservation of natural areas for present and future
generations for nature study and education, and
WHEREAS: Wild Heritage has made its first priority the preservation
of the Trout Brook Hatchery as a community education resource where
children and others can learn in an outdoor classroom, and
WHEREAS: The Trout Brook Hatchery has historic value as a
hatchery and Civil War bivouac training area, and
WHEREAS: The Trout Brook Hatchery has environmental value
encompassing river, lake and spring systems, habitat for waterfowl, wild trout
and many other forms of fish and wildlife, and
WHEREAS: The pressures of increasing population and land
development render such areas generally inaccessible to the public,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Croix County Board
of Supervisors in regular session that this Board supports the concept
of the Wild Hertage effort to preserve the Trout Brook Hatchery for a nature
study area.
