WHEREAS, homeownership is not only the dream of most Americans, but
a major contributing fa.c-cur to the stability of the State of Wisconsin, and
WHEREAS, the higher the interest rate required for home mortgages, the
fewer people who can afford to become homeowners, and
WHEREAS, the State of i;'isconsin had General Obligation bond funded loan
program for veterans who comprise 520 of the heads of households in this
state, and
WHEREAS, General Obligation bond funds provide loans at the lowest
possible interest rate to veteran borrowers,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the Board'of Supervisors of St.
Croix County do hereby petition the legislature of the State of Wisconsin
and the Governor to return the highly successful state veterans home loan
program to General Obligation bond funding at the earliest possible opport-
unity in order to provide the maximum assistance to not only veterans, but
to the entire economy, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be sent to each
member of the State Legislature and the Governor requesting their immediate
consideration of this request, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution be presented to the
Wisconsin County Board Association for their consideration, at their annual
meeting in September, 1980.
