Resolution Approving the Removal of a Parcel, Approximately 12 Acres in,
Size, of the Gillis Farms, Inc. from a Farmland Preservation Contract
for Purpose of its being Subdivided, Sold and Used as a Tractor Repair
Business.
WHEREAS, Gillis Farms, Inc. is under a farmland preservation
contract; and
WHEREAS, said 1 2 acre parcel is located in the Town of , Warren-
29 N, R 18_W, Section 24_, NW i4 NE 14; and is part of that
contract, and
WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors is required
to approve all farmland preservation contracts and amendments pursuant to
Wis.- Stats. 91.13(4); and
WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Board on May 9. 1978 approved
the application of Gillis Farms, Inc., Town of Warren to enter into
a contract with the state to keep the land in agricultural use; and
WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors in the St.
Croix County Farmland Preservation Plan adopted March 11, 1980 states that
in -agricultural areas "only commercial uses clearly related to or compatible
with agricultural production should be allowed in this area." (Page 137); and
WHEREAS, the proposed tractor repair shop is an agriculture -related
commercial use.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Croix County Board of
Supervisors that the County Board approves the removal of said parcel from
the contract for use as a farm tractor repair shop, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be conveyed to the
State Farmland Preservation Board c/o Jim Johnson, Madison.
