PL-525 Effluent Filter
PL-525 Filter
The PL-525 Filter is rated for 10,fi)0 GPD (gallons per day) making it one of the largest filters in its class. It has
525 linear feet of 1/16" filtration slots. Like the Polylok PL-122, the Polylok PL-525 has an automatic shut-off ball
installed with every filter. When the filter is removed for cleaning the ball will float up and temporarily shut off
the system so the effluent won't leave the tank.

ldeal for residential and corunercial waste flows up to
10,000 gallons per day (GPD).
1. Locate the outlet of the septic tank.
2. Rernove the tank cover and pump tank if necessary.
3. Gltre the filter housing to the 4" or 6" outlet pi6rc. If
the filter is not centered under the access opening use a
Polvlok Extend & Lok or piece of pipe to center filter.
4. Insert the PL-525 filter into its housing.
5. Replace and secure the septic tank cover.
PI -52.5 Maintt,nance:
The PL-525 Effluent Filters will operate efficientll'for
several years under norrnal conditions before requinng
cleaning. It is recommended that the filter be cleaned
every tinre the tank is pumped, or at least every three
years. If the installed filter contains an optional alarm,
thc ou'ncr r.r'ill be notificd by an alarm u'hcn the filtcr
needs seruicing. Servicing should be done by a certified
septic tank pumper or installer.
1. Locate the outlet of the septic tank.
2. Remove tank cover and pump tank if rrecessary.
3, Do not use plumbing when filter is removed.
4. Pull PL-525 cartridge out of the housing.
5. Hose off filter over the septic tank. Make sure all
solids fall back into septic tank.
5. tnsert the filter cartridge back into the housing making
sure the filter is properly aligned and completely inserted.
7. Replace and secure septic tank covcr.

Wsconsin Department of Commerce, Sa{ety and Buildings
Division, has reviewed the specifications andlor plans lor this
product and determined it to be in compliance with chapters
Comm 82 through 84, Wsconsin Admin. Code, and Chapters
'145 and 160, Wsconsin Statutes. Al sites must meet the Sle
& Soil Conditions & Locations & lsolation distances as noted in
local regulations.
The approved products are 1203H (3-.l2' bundles wittr pipe in
center bundle in 5' or l0' lengths) and l203HP ($12' bundles
with pipe in each bundle in 5' or 10' lengths.
A single pipe bundle contains a four inch perforated pipe sur-
rounded by EPS aggregate and is held together with poly-
ehtylene netting. A single aggregate bundle contains aggregate
only and is heH together with polyethylene netting.

The instructions for inslallation ol EZllorrr products are given
below. This product must be installed in accordance with state
rules defined in chapters Comm 82 trrough 84, Wsconsin Ad-
ministratve Code, and Chapters 145 and 160, Wsconsin Stat-
utes, as well as the local health department's cunent design
manual.
1 . After the local health department has delermined sizing,
configuration, and layoul for the EZflow systerns, stake
or mark with pant the location of trenches and lines. Be
careful to set conect tank, invert pipe, header line or dis-
lribution box and trench bottom elevations belore instaF
lation of pipe bundles.
2. Remove plastic Ezflow shipping bags pnor to placing
bundles in the trench(es). Remove any plastic bags in the
trench before system is covered.
3. This product must have geotextile labric that nreets re-
quuements o{ s. Comm 84.30 (6) (g), Ws. Adm. Code,
installed directly on top o, the product and extending
down along the sides ol the product to a point at least six
inches ,rom the bottom of product.
4. When installed in a trench, the trench should be dug to
a width o, 36 inches. This not only saves labor in excava-
tion, but also provides better load-bearing capacity afler
backflling is complete.
5. The Absorption area (SF) necessary {or a given site shall
be sized based on maximum daily sewage flow (GPD) and
lhe Permeability lor the site. lf certain criteria is met, the
EISA sizing can be used in Wisconsin, resulling in a 40%
smaller drarnfield.
6. Place EZflow bundle(s) in the EZflow conliguration ap-
proved by system design permit specified tor the particu-
lar site. The top or cenler-mosl bundles containing pipe
are loined end to end with an inlernal pipe coupler Any
addilional aggregate only bundhs that may be required,
should be butted against the other aggregate-only bun-
dles and do not require any type of conneclion.
7. The top o, each GEO cylinder contans a iilter labric pre-
manufaclured in between the netting and aggregate. The
fabric is inserted to prevent soil intrusion. The installer
shall make sure the the GEO is positiioned upward and is
in contact with the fabric contajned in the adjacent cylin-
der beJore backf illing.
8. The EZflow Drainfield Systems should be installed in a
level trench in all directions (both across and along the
trench bottom) and should follow lhe contour ol the ground
surface elevatron (uniform depth), with all continuous
adioining I Glool cylindrical bundles placed end to end,
with central bundle distribulion pipe interconnected,
wilhout any dams, stepdowns or other water stops.
9. The lrench top shall be graded such that water will not
pond. Backfll should be seeded or sodded immediately
after completion to reduce erosion.
10. EZllo,tt EPS bundles are flexible and can til in curved
trenches as may be necessary to avoid trees, boulders, or
other obstacles.
'I I . EPS aggregate is lighter than water, therefore, it might
be expected that natural buoyancy forces would tend to
cause EZflow assemblies to {loat oul ot ground when
ponding occurs. Field experience has shown, however,
that this is not a problem when syslems have a minimum
of 6' of soil cover as recommended by manufacturer.

Maintenance Required
The submittal described above has been reviewed for contomtance with applicable Wisconsin Administrative Codes
and Wisconsin Statutes. The submittal has been CONDITIONALLY APPROVED. This system is to be
constructed and located in accordance with the enclosed approved plans and with any component manual(s)
rcfercnced above. The owner, as defined in chapter 101.01(10). Wisconsin Statutes, is responsible for compliance
with all code requirement,;.
No person may engage in or work at plumbing in the state unless licensed to do so by the Department per s.145.06,
staLs.
The following conditions shall be met during construction or installation and prior to occupancy or use:
Preserve dispersal area prior and during construction to avoid disturbance, compaction and use of the site.
With new construction, it is recommended not to activate the pump in the dose tank until the tanks are
pumped prior to homeowner occupancy.
Wastewater generated from contractors cleaning of equipment and tools and/or left over construction
products shall not be discharged into the drains discharging to the private onsitc wastewater treatment system
POWTS). Waste generated shall be properly disposed of on -site or off site.
Divert surface water from POWTS Area.
All piping shall conform to SPS Table 384.30-3 and SPS Table 384.30-5
Insulate building sewer beyond 30 feet per SPS 392.30 (1 11(c)
Tank Installation to follow all manufacture's recommendations.
Verify property line(s) prior to installation.
Owner Responsibilities
The current owner, and each subsequent owner, shall receive a copy ofthis letter including instructions relating
to proper use and maintenance of the system. Owners shall receive a copy ofthe appropriate operation and
maintenance manual and/or owner's manual for the POWTS described in this approval SPS 383.54(1).
In the event this soil absorption system or any of its component parts malfunctions so as to create a health
hazard, the property owner must follow the contingency plan as described in the approved plans.
A copy of the approved plans, specifications and this letter shall be on -site during construction and open to
inspection by authorized representatives of the Department, which may include local inspectors. All permits
required by the state or the local municipality shall be obtained prior to commencement of
constructiottlinstal lation/operation.
In granting this approval the Division of Industry Services reserves the right to require changes or additions should
conditions arise making them necessary for code compliance. As per state slats 101.12(2), nothing in this review
shall relieve the designer ofthe responsibility for designing a safe building, structure, or component.

The above left addressee shall provide a copy of this letter and the POWTS management plan to the owner and any

The owner of this in -ground gravity system shall be responsible for its perpetual operation and maintenance pursuant to
requirements of SPS 382-384. Wisc. Admen, Code Pursuant to SPS 383 52 12). Wisc. Adman. Code this system shall
be considered a human health hazard if not maintained in accordance with this approved management plan.
Furthermore, all inspection and maintenance activities shall be performed by a registered POWTS Maintainer in
accordance with SPS 383 52 13 Wisc Admen Code.

a plan submitted :o the appropriate agency for review and approval. A faded m-grourd dispersal component may be
abandoned and replaced by a code -complying dispersal component in a pre-delermmeC area of suitable soils.
