HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1982 (06)RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING INCREASE IN DELINQUENT REAL ESTATE TAX INTEREST RATES Resolution WHEREAS, Chapter 74 of the Wisconsin Statutes provides that delin- quent real estate taxes shall be collected by the County Treasurer with interest thereon at the rate of one percent per month, and WHEREAS, this delinquent tax interest rate is insufficient today, to force taxpayers to pay their real estate taxes when due, thereby con- tributing to the ever increasing balance owed to St. Croix County by delin- quent taxpayers, and WHEREAS, if this interest rate were changed to one and one-half percent per month, taxpayers would more readily pay their real estate taxes when due, thereby reducing the balance owed to St. Croix County by the delinquent tax- payers, NOW THEREFORE,, BE IT RESOLVED, by the St. Croix County Board of Super- visors, meeting in regular session, that the Board strongly recommends to the State Legislature and 'Governor Dreyfus, that Chapter 74 of the Wisconsin Statutes be amended so that counties collect delinquent real estates with interest thereon at the rate of one and one-half percent per month, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this Resolution be mailed by the County Clerk to Governor Dreyfus,Assemblyman Harer, and State Senator Harsdorf.
