PLANS OF IMPLEMENTA`1'ION FOR POSSIBLE MERGER.
Resolution #-
WHEREAS, County Board Resolution # 53 (80),passed on
October 21, 1980, authorized the County Board Chairman to
appoint a Merger Committee for the limited purpose of studying
a possible merger of the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department
and the St'.. Croix County Highway Patrol, and
WHEREAS, the issue of merger was studied at some leMth by
the Merger Committee, although eventually the issue of merger was
defeated on August 11, 1981 by the entire County Board, and
WHEREAS, there appears to be a need for a new resolution
giving increased authority to the Merger Committee, together
with giving said committee additional direction, and
WHEREAS, it appears that it: will be necessary to take $2,500
from the General Fund to be placed in a new account entitled,
Merger Study Account, and
WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate for the said Merger Committee
to include the St. Croix County Communication Center in any alter-
native plans for implementing merger of the St. Croix County Sheriff's
Department and the St. Croix County Highway Patrol,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Croix County; Board of
Supervisors, meeting in special session, that the Merger Committee
of the County Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized to continue,
a merger study, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Merger Committee is hereby
authorized to work with alternative plans of implementation for a.
possible merger, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the said Committee is directed to
study and to include in alternative plans of implementation of a
possible merger, the St. Croix County Communication Center, in addition
to the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department and the St. Croix County
Highway Patrol, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the said Merger Committee shall
add one additional member, with that member being appointed by the
County Board Chairman from the Emergency Services Committee, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that $2,500 shall be transferred
from the General Fund to a new account entitled the Merger Study
Account, with said funds being used for the purpose of paying
various expenses arising out of the said merger study.
