HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1983 (05)RESOLUTION SUPPORTING LEGISLATION ALLOWING CROSS -OVER VOTING IN PRIMARY ELECTIONS. Resolution # WHEREAS, existing state statutes, Sections 10.02(3)(b) 2, and 2m, require the elector to select one party ballot of his or her choice when casting a ballot in primary election, despite the large number of public offices up for election; and WHEREAS, the undersigned General Services Committee now recommends that legislation be introduced in the 1983 legislative period to allow an elector in the primary election to cross -over party lines to vote for the candidate of his or her choice for a public office, regardless of party affiliation of the candidate for public office. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT, RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors,, meeting in regular session, hereby request that legislation be introduced and enacted in the 1983 legislative session which would allow ark elector in a primary election to cross -over party lines to vote for the candidate s,f his or her choice for public office, regardless.of the party affiliation of the candidate for public office. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the County Clerks of each county in the State of Wisconsin. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Wisconsin County Boards Association and all Wisconsin legislators representing St. Croix County: Dated this /oCdy of�1983.
