WHEREAS, Wisconsin Governor Earl and Minnesota Governor Perpich have met
and have discussed a reciprocity agreement on big game licenses between the
states of Minnesota and Wisconsin, and
WHEREAS, under such an agreement, Wisconsin and Minnesota would give
residents from the other state a break on the price of licenses, and
WHEREAS, Governor Earl's staff has told the Wisconsin Department of Natural
Resources to look at such a reciprocity agreement, and
WHEREAS, St. Croix County, being located adjacent to approximately two
million persons located in the State of Minnesota, would be seriously affected
by such a reciprocity agreement between the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin
in that much of St. Croix County is good deer hunting territory,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors,
meeting in regular session, that the board goes on record as being extremely
opposed to the suggested reciprocity agreement on big game licenses between
the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Governor Earl and the Wisconsin Department
of Natural Resources are strongly encouraged to continue the present resident
vs non-resident differential in the cost for big game licenses.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk for St. Croix County is hereby
instructed to immediately send certified copies of this .resolution to Governor
Earl, Governor Perpich, all state legislators .representing St. Croix County,
all Northwest Wisconsin County Boards, and to the Wisconsin Department of Natural
Resources.
