RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE COUNTY PLANNING AND ZONING COMMITTEE TO PROCEED
ON A FEASIBILITY STUDY OF ENERGY/RESOURCE RECOVERY
WHEREAS, the County Board recognizes that the disposal of solid
waste is becoming more difficult in St. Croix County, and
WHEREAS, the County Board has directed the County Comprehensive
Planning, Zoning and Parks Committee to study solid waste disposal
alternatives including landfilling and energy/resource recovery, and
WHEREAS, the County Planning and Zoning Committee has toured and
studied various landfills and energy resource recovery facilities, and
WHEREAS, the Committee has initially determined that the long-term
.solution to solid waste disposal lies in utilizing solid waste for energy/
resource recovery; and
WHEREAS, the Committee has initially determined that landfills
should be used for interim and residual disposal of solid waste;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the St. Croix County Board
of Supervisors that the County Comprehensive Planning and Zoning Committee
be authorized to proceed with a feasibility study of energy/resource
recovery including the possibility of cooperating with neighboring counties
while continuing to look into the possibility of developing an interim and
residual landfill and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Comprehensive Planning,
Zoning and Parks Committee prepare a budget estimate for such feasibility
study and bring it back to the County Board.
