DEPARTMENT AND THE ST. CROIX COUNTY HHIGHWAY PATROL

WHEREAS, on April 12, 1983 the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors passed
a resolution creating a new Public Protection Committee, which committee became
> responsible for both the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department and the St. Croix
County Highway Patrol (together with the Emergency Communication Center and the
District Attorney's Office), and
WHEREAS, the Public Protection Committees comprised of seven county board
members has organized, has met bi-monthly and has considered and studied the
issue of merger of the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department and St. Croix County
Highway Patrol, and
WHEREAS an organizational chart has been drawn for such a proposed merger,
as more particularly set forth in attachment A, attached hereto, and incorporated
herein by reference, and
WHEREAS, the Public Protection Committee met on August 5, 1983, and passed
by a four to two vote a motion recommending the merger of the St. Croix County
Sheriff's Department with the St. Croix County Highway Patrol as shown on the
said organizational charts effective January 1, 1984.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors
meeting in regular session that, effective January 1, 1984, the St. Croix County
Sheriff's Department shall merge with the St. Croix County Highway Patrol, with
said merger to take place as shown on attachment A, attached hereto, and incorpor-
ated herein by reference, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Public Protection Committee shall be the
parent committee for the newly merged Sheriff's Department, with the said
committee having the same duties, responsibilities, and composition as it presently
has.
