Resolution # 41 C g3,
WHEREAS, the County Veterans Service Officer has requested that St. Croix
County create a site for a Veterans Memorial; and
WHEREAS, it has been recommended that such a site be located to the east of
the new Courthouse building and to the south of the existing sidewalk leading
therefrom, in the vicinity of the American flagpole; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Veterans Memorial would consist of an appropriately
engraved memorial stone, several benches, appropriate shrubs and flowers, and a
sidewalk leading from the Courthouse sidewalk to said Veterans Memorial; and
WHEREAS, the Veterans Service Commission proposes to pay for the said memorial
stone; however, St. Croix County has been asked to pay for the remainder of the
expenses for the proposed Veterans Memorial, and it has been requested to furnish
the site for such Memorial; and
WHEREAS, it has been estimated that the expense to St. Croix County would not
exceed $2,000.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors,
meeting in regular session, that St. Croix County provide a site for a Veterans
Memorial, which site shall be located to the east of the new Courthouse building and
to the south of the existing sidewalk leading therefrom in the vicinity of the American
flagpole.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that St. Croix County approves of the plan for such a
Veterans Memorial.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a sum not to exceed $2,000 be immediately transferred
from the General Fund to a new account entitled, Veterans Memorial Site Account, which
monies shall be used to help defray those expenses for the Memorial Site which are
not contributed to by others.
