Also present were: Sandy Gehrmann, Tracy Davis, Renea Aeschliman, Gladys Ellefson, Sylvia Heller, Janice Thompson, Shirley Marlette, Dan Hansen, Lorraine Jacobs, Marge Wolske, and Donna Lamson. Excused was Bette Norman. ADOPTION OF AGENDA A motion was made by Richard (Buzz) Marzolf and seconded by Gerald Peterson to adopt the agenda as printed; motion carried. DATE OF NEXT MEETING The next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2004. ACTION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES A motion was made by Gerald Peterson and seconded by Ralph Bader to approve the minutes; motion carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Roberts Dining Site On Monday, February 2n the Roberts Senior Dining Site will finally be open. The site will be open on Mondays and Wednesdays — opposite of the Hammond site — with meals being catered from American Heritage Nursing Council on Aging Page 1 03/17/04 Home in Hammond. The current Hammond van driver will be driving for both sites. Marge Wolske will be the site supervisor for the Roberts Dining Site. There will be a potluck luncheon on January 28 so residents of Roberts, Hammond and surrounding areas can take a peek at the new kitchen and get a feel for the site. Secret Santa: Last year 68 individuals benefited from the Secret Santa program. This year, there were 87 individuals. Fortis donated 2004 calendars, Cross Lutheran Church in Roberts donated 120 quilts and employees of the Government Center and individuals from the community contributed lots of items. The bags were filled to brim with lots of useful items. Individuals that received the bags have called in expressing their gratitude to those that donated the items. NEW BUSINESS: Video — Dealin! with Alzheimer's: Common Sense Approach to Communication: Sandy explained that all site managers are caregivers. 9:30 Comfort Keepers, Linda Shurden, R.N.: Comfort Keepers is a non - medical home care agency located in Hudson. It serves all Northwestern Wisconsin. A packet of information was given to each council member and the site supervisors. STAFF REPORTS Sue's Report: Sue discussed the changes in Medicare and handed out 3 articles in regards to the changes. Sandy's Report: Sandy read the additional comments in regards to the assessment on our 5 year plan which was done by Dianne Rhein in October of 2003. Council on Aging Page 2 03/17/04 Tracy's Report: Tracy handed out the card tournament schedule for this year. Occupational First Aid training is required for all staff. Volunteers are encouraged to attend as well. Tracy touched on United Way information for the sites and gave out poster board. SITEXENTER REPORTS BALDWIN The Christmas Party went well and each person was able to receive a homemade little house to take home. A new person is doing the blood pressure now. Planning a Tarantula program. Working on a Valentine's Day Party. DEER PARK Held a Christmas brunch the Friday before Christmas for the Board members. A fun time was had by all at the Christmas party on the 23 New participants have joined them for lunch lately. An evening meal is planned for Wednesday, February 25 th . GLENWOOD CITY: Blood Pressure, Bingo and Foot Care are going good. The steam table has been fixed and is useable now. The shelves in the store room are going to be painted. AARP tax assistance will be at the site a couple times in February. HAMMOND/ROBERTS Bingo and Cards are going well. Birthday party for January will be held on the 22n Valentine Party is planned for February 12 Very happy to have a new van driver that will be serving both Hammond and Roberts. HUDSON Monthly birthday party was held with a Hawaiin theme and a lot of fun. Skip -bo is real fun right now instead of bingo. Puzzles are still popular. Home Delivered meal program in going well and growing. Planning a trip to Elmwood to visit a former participant in the nursing home. NEW RICHMOND December was busy with the cookie kitchen and the Christmas party. Bob Talmage volunteered to drive for a light tour of the town. Another outing to the Old Gem Council on Aging Page 3 03/17/04 Theatre is planned for February 18 to watch the Diary of Adam & Eve. RIVER FALLS: Bette was ill. SOMERSET Chair exercise is back. A raffle will be held on March for a German Wagon. The Somerset snowmobile club donated money for PA system for the site. Maurice Simon's 100 birthday party is planned for Jan. 29 February lunch out is yet to be planned. Cindy would like to do a puzzle exchange with the other sites at the next Council meeting. WOODVILLE Christmas dinner & party went real well. Planning a Valentine's Day party. VAN TRIPS: Hudson to Elmwood on Jan. 21 St Somerset to be determined for lunch out A motion to approve the van trips was made by Carolyn Weisenburger and seconded by Ralph Bader; motion carried.
