September 21, 2004
MEMBERS PRESENT: Julie Speer, Denise Gunderson, Chuck Mehls,
Lori Bernard and Mark Erickson.
STAFF PRESENT: District Attorney Eric Johnson, Legal Secretary
Cheryl Robinson and Renee Carufel.
Meeting called to order at 8:30 a.m. by Chairperson Speer.
Motion by Gunderson / Mehls to approve the agenda. Carried.
DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S REPORT: Johnson apologized for not being
present at the last meeting. He explained the Byrne Grant,
which assists the St Croix Valley Drug Task Force. This is a
$68,146 grant that requires a 10% local match. The allocation
of the hours is 50% St Croix County, 25% Pierce County and 25%
Polk County. Johnson reported the equitable way to share this
local match would be for St. Croix County to budget $3,400 with
Pierce and Polk Counties budgeting $1700 each.
Johnson also reported on a Federal one year grant of $49,000.
He will not make any definite plans for this money until we
receive it.
There is an overall budget increase of 8.6 %. Motion by
Mehls /Gunderson to approve the budget of $516,183 for 2005 for
the District Attorney's office. Carried.
