St. Croix County Traffic Safety Commission meeting was
held January 21, 2004 at the Sheriff's Department in Hudson
at 1:OOPM.
Present were: Charles Grant, Tim Ramberg, Brian
Erickson, Greg Helgeson, Buzz Marzolf, Dennis Johnson,
Miles Wittig, Pam Dabruzzi and Bob Klanderman.
Meeting was called to order by Chairman Klanderman.
Motion to adopt the agenda made, seconded and approved.
Motion to accept minutes of October 15, 2003 was made and
approved.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
NEW BUSINESS
Discussion was held reference the I94 and Hwy. 65
interchange on the south side of the interstate. During a
12 hour period there was an average of 450 cars per hour.
Traffic is backing up and something needs to be done to
avert traffic from backing up onto I94. Mr. Helgeson
suggested a 4 -way stop for now. Mr. Helgeson stated he
will have more information at the April meeting.
Mr. Helgeson showed a video about roundabouts.
Mr. Helgeson will have someone contact Mr. Wittig
reference his concerns about turning in the Hwy. 64 project
by his residence.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mr. Johnson stated so far this year there has been 45
fatalities in the state compared to 40 last year at this
time. St. Croix County had 20 fatalities in 2003.
Mr. Johnson discussed some traffic accident statistics
and age group statistics.
Mr. Johnson passed out some handouts.
Wisconsin is at a 70% compliance rate for seatbelt
usage.
