WHEREAS, Section 814.70 Wisconsin Statutes sets forth fees the Sheriff shall collect for
service of process, execution on judgments and travel for civil process; and
WHEREAS, presently the fee for service or attempted service of a summons or any other
process for commencement of an action, a writ, an order of injunction, a subpoena, or any other
order, $12 for each defendant or person; if there is more than one defendant or person to be
served at a given address, $6 for each additional defendant or person; and, the fee for travel for
civil process is 25 cents per mile actually and necessarily traveled; and
WHEREAS, Wisconsin Statutes 814.705(1)(a) allows a county board to establish a
higher fee than set forth above which St. Croix County did in 2003: fee for service of process is
$30, with $10 for each additional attempt at service, limited to three service attempts; if more
than one defendant or person is served at the same address, the fee is $15 for each additional
defendant or person; the fee for serving an execution on a judgment is $50 per officer per hour;
the fee for posting and conducting a foreclosure sale is $75 each; the fee for travel for civil
process is the Internal Revenue Service mileage rate in effect at the time for each mile actually
and necessarily traveled; and, the fee for conducting postal address verifications is $5 per request
and the fee for making additional copies shall be $1 per page; and

THEREFORE, be it resolved by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors that the
following fee schedule is hereby established regarding civil process fees:

1. The service of process fee shall be $60 per individual to be served upon (to include 3
attempts at service and mileage).
2. The fee for more than 3 attempts shall be $25 per additional attempt.
3. The fee for serving an execution on a judgment shall be $60 per officer per hour.
4. The fee shall be $150 for posting a foreclosure sale and $0.00 for conducting a
foreclosure; and, all foreclosure sales adjourned more than one week will be reassessed
the posting and conducting fees; further, there will be no refunds due to foreclosure sales
being cancelled.
5. The fee for conducting postal address verification shall be $5 per request and the fee for
making additional copies shall be 25 cents per page.
FURTHER, be it resolved that the new civil process fee schedule will take effect with
those documents served after June 1, 2011.
