Adoption of Minutes: Motion by Zoerb, 2 nd by Standafer to adopt the May 6, 2003 minutes. Carried. Veterans' Service Officer Report: Lorin Sather reported receiving the $11,500 grant which they get each year. He also received a $7,150 volunteer driver grant a month ago, which is figured on a 5 cent per mile reimbursement for each trip a volunteer takes a Vet client to the Vet's hospital. 854 trips were made by volunteers last year, aiding some 200+ Vets. Volunteer drivers only receive 36 cents a mile for each trip. They use their own vehicle and no other compensation is received. Sather is waiting on purchasing software to do Vet claims. He is hoping the State will give us some sort of a break in cost if our software is compatible with the State's. The State and the County would be sharing information and not having to duplicate work. The County would be doing a good share of the State's work by entering clients' claim information. It has also been determined that exposure to Agent Orange during the Vietnam War has been one of the leading causes of diabetes in War Vets. Legislative Issues: Whiting had nothing to report as far as the progress of the State budget. WCA is in favor of adding a charge to cell phones users for 911 service. Controversy on this issue could cause it to fail at the State level. Supr. Zoerb asked if the committee could arrange some type of workshop for County Board Suprs. to help them better understand County financing. Chair Malick said it would be looked into. Rules and By -Laws: The Committee discussed date changes and day /night meetings for County Board sessions. Motion by Standafer to present a Resolution to County Board for approval making May, June, (no July meeting), August, September and October evening County Board sessions. 2nd by Zoerb. Carried. Another consideration was to change the October County Board Budget Meeting date from Tuesday, October 28"' to Thursday, October 30` Meeting adjourned at 10:20 A.M. Jan Zoerb, Secretary
