EXPLANATION
In November ofzVz3. the Dunn County Surveyor's Office found a aY4^ diameter aluminum cap (marked St. Croix County) in concrete and four ties
according to nuod»'s 1993 tie sheet. The monument was found at the intersection of fences, but no fence corner post was found. The original
government bearing trees were searched for, but not found. A magnetic locator was used to search the area around the aluminum uap, but no
further evidence of the corner was found. The aluminum cap fell approximately 5 feet short of the distance from the east quarter corner of section 1
reported in the original government survey. The aluminum cap fell approximately 5 feet short ofthe distance from the east quarter corner ofsection
12 reported in the original government survey. Because the aluminum map in concrete fell a8afence inters*ctinn, and because the distances from
the adjacent quarter corners compared well with the distances reported in the original gmmmmon( ourvey, the aluminum cap in concrete was
accepted asthe best evidence vfthe corner's location.

b ) Describe any record evidence, monument evidence, occupational evidence, testimonial eviderfce or
any other material evidence you considered, and whether the monument was found or placed.
A 1901 survey by John McClure does not give distances North or West from the above cor-
ner to nearest controlling corners. A survey from C. Grubb indicated a I" iron pipe
set at the S1/4 Corner of Section 1 and a pipe set at the SE Corner of Section 1. 1
believe we have found them both. The original Government survey of the Town Line by
James E. Freeman in 1849 indicates40 chains in each 1/2 mile. The subdivision of the
township by John Ryan in 1853 indicates 39.85 chains from SE Corner to S 1/4 Corner of
Section 1. We measure ±2599.3 to the west, ±2635.6' to the north, and ±2634.6' to
the south from this corner. Occupation at the corner dates to before the turn of tRh
the century. Occupation at the S1/16 is shown before 1900, but by 1930 title runs
across the 1/16 line. We did not attempt to look for the occupation since it
appears to be of less value and more remote than the 14" iron pipe found.
(c) In the plan view drawing below, provide reference ties to at least 4 witness monuments, or, if
the location Is within a Min ic ipa I i ty, to at least 2 witness monuments. (Witness monuments
shall be made' of concrete, natural stone, iron or other equally durable material.)
Describe witness monuments.
d ) Show a plan view drawing
depicting the relevant
monuments and reference ties
which is sufficient in detail
to enable accurate relocation
or the corner monument if the
corner monument is disturbed.

e ) Dc.,;c r i 5c any material d i SCrepincy between the loca t ion or the corner as restored or
reestablished and the location of that corner as previously restored or reestabl i Fhed
by distance and direction. Show the discrepancy on the plan view drawing Linder (d),
above. Show the distances between the corner as previously restored or reestabl i shed
no (1) the corner as restored or reestablished, and (2) to at least 2 or the witness
monuments shown on the drawing in (d), above. The McClure and Grubb surveys did
not indicate ties for the above corner. McClure did not give distances although he
did indicate that he ren part of the South line of Section 1. The only discrepancy
in distances is with the original Government survey. See the reverse for dimensions.
The grandson of an old-time resident had a residence in Section 12. He did not know
of any monumentation in the area, including what we found.
f ) Was the corner restored through acceptance of (1) an obliterated evidence location, or, (2)
found perpetuated location?
I believe it is a found perpetuated location, although I cannot swear to the 14" iron
pipe which we found.
(9&h) Was the corner reestablished through lost corner proportionate methods? If so, show the
method, Including the directions and distances to other public land survey Corners used as
evidence or used for proportioning in determining the corner location?
