In November of 2023, the Dunn County Surveyor's Office found a 3YW' diameter aluminum cap (marked St. Croix County) in concrete on the southerly
side of a wood fence corner post. Five ties according to Rusch's 1993 tie sheet were found. The original government bearing trees were searched
for, but not found. The area around the aluminum cap was scraped to remove leaves and other debris, but no further evidence of the quarter corner
was found. Amagnetic locator was used wsearch the area around the aluminum cap, but nnfurther evidence vfthe quarter corner was found. The
aluminum cap fell approximately 5 feet short of the distance from the northeast corner of section 12 reported in the original government survey. The
aluminum cap fell approximately 16 feet short of the distance from the southeast corner of section 12 reported in the original government o"may.
Because the aluminum cap was found on the southerly side ofe fence corner post, and because the distances from the adjacent section corners
compared well with the distances reported in the original government survey, the aluminum cap in concrete was accepted as the best evidence of the
quarter corner's location.

b ) Describe any record evidence, monurnen t evidence, occupational evidence, testimonial ev I derfce or
any other material evidence you considered, and whether the inonuffient was found or placed.
To my knowledge there are no surveys of record which tie to this monument. The Town
line was run by James E. Freeman in 1849. Occupation dates to before the turn of the
century. Original Government notes identify a 30" white pine N25OW 34 links. We
believe we found traces of the tree roots and discolored soil on top of the sandstone
and 1-limestone bedrock. It matcthes the bearing and distance from an old fence corner.
There were no other significant trees in the immediate vicinity. There was a large
linden tree obliterating the area of the original 12" sugar maple at S60OW 21 links,
but we might have found pieces of that root as well. It also appears that there has
been no need for 1/16 line fences at either the N1/16 or SI/16 since before the 1930s.
Local residents knew where their line fences had been, but had no knowledge of any
survey work or monuments in the area.

and (1) the corner as restored or reestablished, and (2) to at least ? of the witness
monuments shown on the drawing in (d), above. The line was originally run in 1849-
distances both ways from this monument were 40 Chains. We measure to an iron set by
C. Grubb as the SE Corner of Section 1 a distance of about 2634.5'. We measure to
a
found monument which was set as the SW Corner of Section 7, T30N, R14W, a distance
of
about 2623.7'. The distance continuing north from the NE Corner of Sec. 12 is only
about 11 longer than 2634.5'; the distance continuing south from the SE Corner is
about 2631.2'. The Position determined from field investigation is within seconds
of being on a straight line. A standard monument for St. Croix County was set.
r) Was the corner restored through acceptance of ( 1 ) an obliterated evidence location, or, (2) a

An obliterated evidence location.
(9&h) Was the corner reestablished through lost corner proportionate methods? If so, show the
method, Including the directions and distances to other public land survey corners used as
evidence or used for proportioning in determining the corner location?
