Inspections of tanks and dispersal cells shall be made by an approprilately licensed individual or business. Tank inSpeCtions must
include. a visual inspection of the tank(s) to identify any missing or broken hardware, identify any cracks or leaks, measure the V011-ime
of combined sludge and scum, and to check for any backup or ponding of effluent on the ground surface. Access openings used for

Tanks must be pumped when sludge accumulation is within 1.2 inches of the bottom of the outlet baffle. or whenever the scum layer rs
within 3 inches of the bottorn ofthe outlet baffle. In no case shall total sludge and scum volume occupy greater than 25% of the tank
liquid capacity.
The efflUent filter shall be cleaned as necessary to ensure proper operation. The filter should not be removed unless provisions are
made to retain solids in the tank that may slough off the filter during removal. If the filter Is equipped with an alarm, the filter shall be
serviced if the alarm is activated coati nUOUsly., Intermittent filter alarms may indicate SUrge flows or an Impending continuous alarm
and should be evaluated by a licensed septic professional.
Pre-treatment components shall be maintained and ser-viced by a licensed septic professional according to the ilia n Lif acturer' s.
recommendations.
CONTINGENCYPLANS
If the septic tank. or any of it's components, become defective the tank or component shall be immediately repaired or replaced
according to the original system design specifications.
If a dosing tank, purnp, purnp controls, alarms, or related wiring becomes defective, they shall be immediately repaired or replaced with
components of equal performance.
If the soil treatment component falls to accept wastewater or discharges wastewater to the ground surface, it s hall be repaired or
replaced by; increasing basal area (iftee leakage act Urs), rebuilding the component at the secondary system Site (if identified), or
removing and replacing biologically clogged absorption and dispersal me6a and associated piping. If repairs or rebuilding is not
possible, a new soil and site evaluation must be perforated to locate a suitable replacement area if one has not already been identified.
If no replacement area is avallabler a holding tank may be installed as a last resort replacement POWTS.
ABANDONMENT
If the septic sys-tem fails and/or Is permanently taken out of serviCe, the systeir shall be abandoned according to SPS 382-384. Wis-n%-1-
Admin. Code abandonment regulations. Requirements include,

CHAPTER 145.135 (2) WISCONSIN STATUTES
(a) The purpose of the sanitary permit is to allow installation
of the private sewage system described in the permit.
(b) The approval of the sanitary permit is based on
regulations in force on the date of approval..
(c) The sanitary permit is valid and may be renewed for a
specified period.
(d) Changed regulations will not impair the validity of a
sanitary permit.
(e) Renewal of the sanitary permit will be based on
regulations in force at the time renewal is sought, and that
changed regulations may impede renewal.
(f) The sanitary permit is transferable.
