WITH WISCONSIN'S OPEN HOUSING LAW

St. Croix County, Wisconsin
WHEREAS, Wisconsin Statutes § 106.50 prohibits discrimination in housing and declares that all persons shall
have an equal opportunity for housing regardless of sex, race, color, sexual orientation, disability, religion, national
origin, marital status, family status, status as a victim of domestic abuse, sexual assault, or stalking, lawful source
of income, age, or ancestry; and
WHEREAS, § 106.50 (1) makes it the duty of all political subdivisions, including St. Croix County, to assist in the
orderly prevention or removal of all discrimination in housing.
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the St. Croix County Board of Super that it ackriowledges its obligation to
comply with Wisconsin Statutes § 106.50, the Wisconsin open housing law.
FURTHER, be it resolved that St. Croix County prohibits discrimination in housing and that all persons shall have
an equal opportunity for housing.
FURTHER, be it resolved that St. Croix County will distribute posters or flyers to affirmatively far ther open
housing within the County, highlighting responsibilities and rights concerning equal opportunity in housing, and
that within available resources, St. Croix County will assist all persons who feel they have been discriminated
against in housing because of sex, race, color, sexual orientation, disability, religion, national origin, marital status,
family status, status as a victim of domestic abuse, sexual assault, or stalking, lawful source of income, age, or
ancestry to seek equity under federal and state laws by filing a complaint with the Wisconsin Department of
Workforce Development Equal Rights Division.
