She asked for additions or corrections to the May meeting minutes. Linda moved and Buzz seconded to approve minutes. Motion carried. 1. Future status of the committee Esther reminded us that this committee was required for both the Youth Service Bureau grant and the Juvenile Treatment Court grant. The new County Administrator is asking that all committees reflect action items. Since this committee has had less action than in the past, maybe we could meet quarterly Discussion followed that our goal is to help youth. The meeting schedule should fit our mission and agenda. Discussion focused on past accomplishments that were achieved because this committee existed such as Drug Court. Everyone shared their thoughts regarding the value of this committee. This is a place for discussion, education, networking and creating partnerships. A decision was made to continue meeting monthly. 2. Reports a.Parents Who Host - attending freshman orientations throughout the county. b. UWEX- Positive Parenting of Teens will be offered in Glenwood. c. St. Croix Coalition- CARD program is still in existence but because of business staff turnover selling to minors continues. Been using special enforcement money. d. Steve- Adolescent Group has been extended to 12 weeks. They are using the NIATx (Network for the Improvement of Addiction Treatment) Rapid Change model out of UW- Madison. Before referral 57% actually showed up, but now after using it has increased to 93%. Pete shared there is a National Alliance for Mental Illness - affiliate group in St. Croix Valley. It meets monthly. They have organized an executive board. There is a peer to peer support group led by trained facilitators and a Family to Family program which includes training and a curriculum. In our Own Voice presentations are done well and they are eager to do outreach. The MN Nami Walk has recognized the St. Croix Valley and any money earned from here will go back to this group. They also do training for law enforcement. Pete wanted us to be aware of the resource. 3. Items for future agendas- Exchange of ideas 4.
