The St. Croix County Board of Adjustment conducted a public
hearing on March 25, 1980, to consider the request of STANLEY
THOMPSON for a variance to Article 8.4B 4b, Highway Setbacks,
ST. CROIX COUNTY ZONING ORDINANCE.
The St. Croix County Board of Adjustment conducted an on -site
inspection of the site in question.
After inspection, the St. Croix County Board of Adjustment
entered an executive session to discuss this request.
After returning to open session the following decision was
rendered:
Motion by Supervisor Afdahl to approve the request of Stanley
Thompson to install a mobile home that would be 80 feet from a town
road and shall set back even with the main structure from US 12,
seconded by Supervisor George, motion carried.
Vote to approve motion:
Afdahl, yes
George, yes
Pierson, yes

PLEASE STAKE PROPOSED BUILDING SETBACK PRIOR TO HEARING DATE.
BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT PUBLIC HEARING
Meeting of March 25, 1980, called to order by Chairman Pierson at
10:00 a.m. All members present.
Minutes of the February meeting accepted as corrected. Decision on
Muller airstrip should read personal.
Chairman Pierson opened hearing.
Zoning Administrator read notice as published in county and local
papers.
1. Stanley Thompson, Section 32, Town of Springfield, requested a
variance of the highway setbacks on a town road--48 feet. lie would like to
stay 150 feet from U. S. 12.
This will be a temporary situation.
Questions by members of the Board. Chairman Pierson informed Mr.
Thompson that the Zoning Administrator will notify him of their decision
after inspection the property.
2. Myron Hesselink, Section 23, Township of Hammond, requested a
variance of the 200 foot driveway separation as required in the Zoning
Ordinance. He would like to put a field access that would be
approximately 25 feet from an adjoining driveway to get to a 40 acre
parcel in the rear of his property which he is selling.
Zoning Administrator read correspondence from adjoining land owner
who feels that the driveway should have a larger separation due to
chopper boxes and haying equipment using the driveway.
Questions by members of the Board. Chairman Pierson informed him
that the Zoning Administrator would notify him of their decision after
inspection of the property.
3. Ted Cook of Cook and Sons Construction requested a variance to
replace signs that have deteriorated and partially destroyed by
vandalism. The signs would not cause a safety hazard. The signs were
constructed and were removed as they were in violation.
Questions by members of the Board. Chairman Pierson informed Mr. Cook
that the Zoning Administrator would inform him of their decision after
inspection of the property.
Hearing closed at 10:40 a.m. for inspection of the properties in
question and other business.
District Attorney Lundell discussed airstrips with the Board.
The Zoning Administrator read suggestions he received from the Farm
Bureau.
The District Attorney suggested that the Board should work up some
guidelines that could be used as policy for private and personal airstrips.
Board went into executive session to discuss the properties and
returned to open session for decisions.
Motion by Supv. George to approve the request of Cook and Sons
Construction to install signs on CTH C and CC, CTH CC and H. Seconded
by Supv. Afdahl, motion carried. Vote to approve: Afdahl, yes; George,
yes; Pierson, yes.
Motion by Supv. Afdahl to approve the request of Stanley Thomp.so
to install a mobile home that would be 80 feet from a town road and O 11
set back even with the main structure from US 12, seconded by Supv. George,
motion carried. Vote to approve: Afdahl, yes; George, yes; Pierson, yes.
Motion by Supv. Afdahl to approve the request of Myron Hesselink to
construct a field access 25 to 28 feet from an adjoining driveway. This
is for a field access only and if used for any other purposes this approval
will be null and void. Seconded by Supv. George, motion carried. Vote to
approve: Afdahl, yes; George, yes; Pierson, yes.
The next schueduled meeting is April 29, 1980. The change is due to
new person or persons on the Board of Adjustment to replace Supv. Afdahl.
Motion by Supv. George to ajourn, seconded by Supv. Afdahl, motion
carried.
Hearing adjourned at 3:30 p.m.
