ST. CROIX COUNTY PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
JANUARY 19, 1993
ST. CROIX COUNTY COURTHOUSE, COUNTY BOARD OFFICE, HUDSON, WI
PRESENT: Chairperson Tom Dorsey; Supervisors Robert Boche and George Menter. Staff present
included Jim O'Connell and Dave Fodroczi.
ABSENT: Supervisors Linda Luckey and William Oemichen, excused.
Chairperson Dorsey called the meeting to order at 8:40 a.m.
Motion by Menter, seconded by Boche to adopt the agenda as mailed to the Committee. Motion
carried.
Register of Deeds O'Connell explained that he needed authorization from the County Board to enter
into a contract with River Valley Abstract and Title Company to provide document reproduction
services. This company has purchased the assets of St. Croix Abstract, including complete title records
for the entire county. They would like to enter into a contract to receive copies of all real estate
documents on a daily basis.
O'Connell has negotiated prices for the requested service with Roger Bevers of River Valley Abstract
and Title. Charges would include a fee of $5,975 for previous records from mid-1991 when St. Croix
Abstract went out of business and a rate for new records of $100 per book of records and $2.00 per first
page and $1.00 per successive page for plats. O'Connell indicated that the charges were based on costs
for machinery and staff. The rates were comparable to rates that he checked in Douglas, Pierce and
Sheboygan Counties.
Motion by Boche, seconded by Menter to present resolution to the County Board to authorize the
Register of Deeds to enter into a contract for services to provide document reproduction according to
the specified rates. Motion carried.
Motion by Boche, seconded by Menter to adjourn at 8:55 a.m. Motion carried.
