This onsite soils verification was conducted at the request of the St. Croix County Zoning Office because
of a marginal thickness of suitable soil below the A -horizon (5 in). The verification revealed that soil
conditions are not suitable as described by CST Schumaker. There is no suitable soil below the bottom
of the A -horizon and therefore the CST should have reported the estimated highest level of soil saturation
to be 0 inches.
Two hand constructed soil borings within the area evaluated by Schumaker revealed similar results. A
typical soil profile description follows:
00-09" 10YR 3/2 sil, 2msbk, mfr, as.
09-15" 10YR 4/6 sit, 2mpl, mfr, w/ c2d 7.5YR 5/8 & 6/3 rmfs.
Further evaluation of the A -horizon needs to be completed to determine if conditions might qualify for an
interpretative determination under Comm 85.60(2), Wis. Adm. Code. NNN
Under the current evaluation, this site is only suitable for a holding tank system.
