December 19, 2013 9:00 AM RESULT: ACCEPTED PUBLIC COMMENT* BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Financial Reports Council members received copies of the Projected Financial Report through November 2013. The ADRC is projected to end the review with surplus that will be utilized when the ADRC moves to the new location in New Richmond. 2. MED Facts - Emergency Medical Information The two Adult Protective Service staff, Jo Anne Friedell and Bonnie Edlund, presented information to the Council regarding the MED Fact program. The program is a revitalization and replacement of the former Life Alert Program from years past. Presentations have been made st Senior Centers, housing units and the EMS units to explain the program and to promote the usage. MED Facts contains the vital information needed by EMS if the individual is unable to communicate. Individuals are encouraged to update the information frequently, especially their medications. 3. 2013 Year End Nutrition Statistics Council members received a handout regarding the 2013 stats for the Congregate and Home-Delivered meal. The handout provided a quick glance of the last three years. 4. Transportation Requests (Out of County/Weekend) The transportation requests for this month were Woodville and River Falls to Menomonie; River Falls to Rush River Valley on February 22; River Falls to Spring Valley on March 9. A motion was introduced by Pelnar; seconded by Burri and unanimously adopted: To approve the out of county trips as requested. 5. Memory Screens Information & Assistance Specialist Cia Westphal shared the newest program being offered through the ADRC. This information was also shared with home health agencies, Senior Center and medical providers. The screen is not a diagnostic assessment, but a quick confidential tool to see if an individual has some red flags. Individuals can request to have a Memory Screen done which can then be shared with their primary physician. Packets were created to assist the I&A when administering the screen and to provide to the individual. The packets contain handouts on memory screen clinics and signs of memory loss. Individuals can be tested at any time and as often as they would like. 6. Information & Assistance Update Sheet Council members received a handout with recent numbers. There has been one disenrollment from ContinuUs; five enrollments into ContinuUs; four IRIS enrollments; three IRIS disenrollment. ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE The newest Council member George Zaske introduced himself to the Council. The Council was informed of a staff changes at two of the Nutrition Sites - Deer Park Nutrition Program Cook resigned and new cook was hired; Woodville Nutrition Program Cook Aide resigned and new one was hired. AARP Tax Assistance will begin at the Government Center on Monday, February 3 and run until Monday, April 7. The schedule was provided to all the Senior Centers and printed in the ADRC News.
