APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. August 22, 2014 9:00 AM RESULT: ACCEPTED PUBLIC COMMENT* BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Caregiver Support Coordinator Introduction Tara Murdzek introduced herself to the Council. She worked at the ADRC prior as the DayAway Manager. Murdzek has experience in working in nursing home settings and is excited to return to the ADRC. She will be working with caregivers, coordinating support groups, and the Healthy Aging classes. RESULT: DISCUSSED 2. Financial Reports The Council received copies or Actual & Projected Financial report for the month of July 2014. The ADRC for the month looks overspent due to the State payment. The end of the year projections for both the ADRC and Aging look good. RESULT: DISCUSSED 3. 2015 Budget Council members received copies of the 2015 Budget for the Aging and ADRC. There was discussion on where some of the variances from 2014 to 2015 in both Aging and ADRC. There was a review on where the revenue streams come from and where the dollars are spent. Council members requested a visual on revenue streams regarding the 2015 budget. There are rules pertaining to how dollars can be spent and where the dollars can be spent. Council would like to know what can be done with dollars and what can not. RESULT: DISCUSSED 4. 2nd Quarter and 6 mth Nutrition Statistics Council members received the revised copy of 6 month nutrition statistics. The revised report shows meals that are provided to the Hammond residents on Tuesdays and Thursdays since the closure of the Hammond Senior Center. RESULT: DISCUSSED 5. Curb Cut Discussion Beckman informed the Council he had spoke with the City of Hudson City Engineer and Public Works Department. He mentioned that he is waiting to hear back from those two groups after providing them with information regarding the locations of concern. The Center for Independent of Western Wisconsin will also be looking a the locations of concern. Chair Ostness spoke with Tim Ramberg, St. Croix County Highway Department. Council members were provided with additional handouts in their packet to give background information regarding curb ramps and pedestrian crossings. It was determined to wait until information from those have been contacted prior to pursuing additional action. The Chair asked that the item be placed on the agenda as an ongoing discussion item. RESULT: DISCUSSED 6. Information & Assistance Update Sheet Council members received a handout with the numbers for August 2014. In August, there were three disenrollments from ContinuUs; eight enrollments into ContinuUs; three IRIS enrollments; and one disenrollments. RESULT: DISCUSSED 7. Transportation Requests (Out of County/Weekend) The Hudson Senior Center will be going to Leinicugals Brewery tour on October 3rd; Hudson and Somerset Senior Center will be going to Stillwater on October 12th for a boat cruise on the St. Croix River. Recognition of Leon Bernschot Beckman presented Leon with a Certificate of Appreciation for his years of service with the Council on Aging & Disabilities and Health and Human Services Board. RESULT: DISCUSSED 9. 2014 Wisconsin Aging Network Conference Beckman provided the Council with an overview of the Aging conference held September 10 - 12 in Wisconsin Dells. RESULT: DISCUSSED 10. 2014 Walk to End Alzheimer's - Pierce/St. Croix Beckman informed the Council that the Walk to End Alzheimer's was held on Saturday, September 20 at the Deerfield raised over $40,000. The monies raised stays in Wisconsin and it utilized to help fund the 24/7 Helpline and research. RESULT: DISCUSSED 11. 8th Annual Caregiver Conference The Caregiver Conference was held on Friday, September 19 at WITC in New Richmond. The conference had a record number of attendees and vendors. The speaking sessions were interesting and well attended. RESULT: DISCUSSED ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE Free Clinic for Pierce/St. Croix is held a the River Falls and continues to provide assistance to individuals who are low income and need medical care. The Free Clinic will hosting a fundraiser in November, more information will be provided at next month's meeting. Open enrollment for Medicare Part D will be starting on October 15 and ending December 7. Cindy Ahrens will be returning to the ADRC to run Medicare Part D plans for both the Disability and Elder Benefit Specialists.
