BUSINESS ITEMS
1. Review Selected Architect and Construction Manager
The chosen architect is HCM. Their bid came in under by a significant amount after a
comparison of architects with similar qualifications. The construction manager is Samuels
Group. They are a Wisconsin based company and by using them the county will be
saving $300,000. KFI Engineers will be used for the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
engineering. The county has worked with HCM and KFI in the past. Many other counties
in Wisconsin have worked with Samuels Group and have given them a good reference.
2. Overview of Project Schedule
The project schedule document was reviewed. This document helps in taking the steps
necessary to keep the project on schedule and save money in the long run. The first
drawings for the project are estimated to be complete on May 15th. From those
drawings the price estimate of the project can be finalized (estimated to be complete at
the end of June). The expansion project features a 100,000 sq. ft expansion as well as a
70,000 sq. ft. renovation.
3. Discussions: Issue with Precast Panel Lead Time and Order Timelines
The estimated lead time for securing the panels is about 12 months. The panels have to
ordered by September or October of this year to stay on schedule. These panels are for
the outside walls of the building expansion.
4. Discussion on Parking Lots to Accommodate Construction
There is going to be a temporary parking lot constructed on the south side of the
building across from the Sheriff's department current lot. This temporary parking lot will
need to be complete by the time construction starts. The county would like to start this
project this year during the summer months given the nicer weather to have it ready to
go for next year.
5. Review: Department Program Meetings
Facilities has met with each department over the past few months to get a gain a better
understanding of what their space needs will be in the new building. Each departments
new space includes space that would accommodate the projected growth within the
department over the next 10+ years.
REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
The design matrix and charrette groups will take place at an upcoming meeting to assist with
the process of finalizing the interior design.
