HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-13-2017 Joint Meeting Health & Human Services and COAD Minutes MEETING MINUTES HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES BOARD AND COUNCIL ON AGING AND DISABILITIES June 13, 2017 5:30 PM County Board Room-Government Center County Board Room - 1101 Carmichael Road, Hudson, Wisconsin CALL TO ORDER This June 13, 2017 joint meeting of the Health and Human Services (HHS) Board and the Council on Aging and Disabilities (COAD) was called to order by HHS Chair Dr. Chris Babbitt. HHS Chair Babbitt informed everyone that this is the Open Public Participation meeting regarding the Health and Humans Services 2018 budget and service delivery planning. Dr. Babbitt shared he has several requests for an opportunity to address the board as well as several letters submitted to be read. Health & Human Services Board – Joint Meeting – June 14, 2016 6:00 PM Health and Human Services (HHS) Chair Dr. Chris Babbitt asked if after review of the June 14, 2016 joint meeting minutes if any changes were needed. Council on Aging and Disabilities (COAD) Chair Dave Ostness would like to note and for a change to be made in the roll call section, that George Zaske is a COAD member not a Supervisor. A motion made by Supervisor Long to approve the minutes as amended and was seconded by Supervisor Larson. A voice vote was taken and all approved the June 14, 2016 minutes as amended. John Strom from the Town of Forest addressed the Board regarding the potential health effects of improperly sited wind turbines. BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Open Public Participation Process-Review Letters and Take Public Testimony Related to the 2018 Health and Human Services Budget and Services The meeting was now open for input from the public related to Health and Human Services 2018 Budget and Service planning. Health and Human Services Board Chair Dr. Chris Babbitt introduced several members of the community as well as read a couple letters that were submitted. Carol Hardin from Hudson, WI addressed the Board with concerns regarding Concentrated Area Feeding Operations (CAFO's ) and their potential effect on and threat to ground water quality. She believes everyone should have the right to clean drinking water. Kim Dupre from the Town of Emerald addressed the Board with concerns regarding Concentrated Area Feeding Operations (CAFO's ) and their potential effect on and threat to ground water quality. She shared some information regarding various CAFO'S and water issues around the state. Dupre also thanked the Board for their work in getting the new St. Croix County Health and Rehab Center built and open. Kristin Thompson, representing the Family Resource Center of St. Croix Valley, read a letter from their President, Aaron Mork. In the letter they asked for a continued partnership with St. Croix County Health and Human Services and highlighted some of the services they provide to support families in St. Croix County. Health and Human Services Board Chair Dr. Chris Babbitt then read a couple of letters that were submitted. First Chair Babbitt read a letter from resident Krista Spieler. She shared her support of the work that the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) does, in particular the Dementia Specialist, and asked for continued staffing and resources for the ADRC. The next letter read was from Peter Kilby from Westcap. In the letter he requested continued funding support from St. Croix County Health and Human Services to assist in meeting the needs of St. Croix County residents. With no further requests for public participation Health and Human Services Board Chair Dr. Chris Babbitt thanked everyone for their participation and attendance. RESULT: DISCUSSED ADJOURN Health and Human Services Board Chair Dr. Chris Babbitt called this meeting adjourned at approximately 6:00 PM.
