Local Emergency Planning Committee - Regular Meeting - Jul 10, 2014 10:00 AM RESULT: ACCEPTED PUBLIC COMMENT* BUSINESS ITEMS 1. Presentation Canadian National Railway Dave Slauson, Dangerous Goods Officer, from Canadian National Railway gave a presentation on crude oil transportation. RESULT: DISCUSSED 2. HAZMAT Functional Exercise update Coordinator Sailer reported on the Functional HAZMAT exercise held on August 23, 2014 at the Precision Ag facility. There were 37 participants from Deer Park Fire Department, New Richmond Area EMS, United Fire & Rescue, Baldwin EMS, Sheriff's Office, Clear Lake Fire, Emergency Communications, Emergency Management, LEPC members and Precision Ag staff. Sailer thanked everyone for their participation and time. The exercise was completed around noon. RESULT: DISCUSSED 3. Public Outreach subcommittee-Volunteers Coordinator Sailer asked for volunteers to help with a Public Outreach program. Mike Foley, Jan Nelson and Darrin VanBlaricom volunteered. RESULT: DISCUSSED 4. Approval of Off-Site Facility Plans Jon Aubart on behalf of the Planning sub-committee gave a brief report on the consolidated plans the group reviewed at an August 28th meeting. Twelve retail battery and communication sites plans were combined into two plans. Motion made by Aubart seconded by Mehls to approve the two plans. Motion carried. HAZMAT training summary All Hazmat classes have been completed for the grant year. Law Enforcement, Fire Fighters, EMS, Parks, Highway and Hospital personnel were trained using these grant dollars. A total of 435 people attended training. RESULT: DISCUSSED 6. Membership Review The membership listing was reviewed by the committee. RESULT: DISCUSSED ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE Jason Winget, Red Cross, announced the Esponder training being offered in River Falls on October 9th and invited any interested members to sign up via the Wisconsin Emergency Management training portal.
