APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. Public Protection Committee - Regular Meeting - Nov 14, 2014 8:00 AM
The Minutes from the November meeting were accepted as presented.

BUSINESS ITEMS
1. Financial Report
Administrator Thompson reported all departments reporting to the Public Protection
committee are within the 20% variance. The financial report is through October 2014.
The Medical Examiner's office due to the increase in autopsies may exceed their budget.
ME Schachtner reported with the increase in autopsies and investigations comes an
increase is wages. Thompson explained in the revenue section the % of variance which
appears to be negative is actually amounts received exceeding what was budgeted for
revenue.

2. Community Justice Collaborating Council (CJCC)
CJCC Coordinator Mike O'Keefe reported the CJCC met yesterday. O'Keefe is
encouraged on how the group has evolved and is able to share resources. Notification
was received shortly after the meeting that the CJCC has been awarded a $75,000 grant
which funds 1/2 of the CJCC costs. Chair Brinkman invited Public Protection members
to the next CJCC meeting which is January 22, 2015.

3. 9-1-1 Infrastructure Phase II
Emergency Communications Coordinator Terry Andersen, presented a brief report on
what has been happening with the Infrastructure Phase II project. Andersen directed
members to the 9-1-1 Phase II Project Goals & Scope report, attached to the agenda.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
4. 2015 Public Protection meeting calendar
The default meeting date has been the second Friday of each month at 8:00 AM in the
County Board room. Seeing no objections the 2015 calendar will remain with the same
schedule.

5. ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE
Sheriff Shilts announced the Sheriff's Office has had space in the Star Prairie town Hall for
deputies to use when working in the area. Due to problems with technical connectivity the Star
Prairie satellite office will be closed. An alternate office space will be created at the Service
Center in New Richmond.
6. Annual Jail Inspection
The committee left the board room at 8:26 AM to perform their annual inspection of the
St. Croix County Jail. Captain VanSomeren, Lieutenants Simacek and Hutton lead the
committee through the jail and explained the general operations. The following items
were identified as needing repairs: stress cracks in the Masonry Walls to be caulked, pipe
penetrations to be smoke caulked, exit sign with bulb replacement, electrical cover to be
installed above the dishwasher, stainless steel panel to be installed on Door D 611,
SCBA equipment storage plexiglas panel to be replaced.
RESULT: DISCUSSED
